Universal Orlando has advanced to the next phase of both demolishing Hollywood Rip Ride Rockit and building its replacement, which is occurring simultaneously. In fact, Universal Orlando commenced work on the yet-to-be-revealed replacement for Hollywood Rip Ride Rockit several months before its closure on August 18, 2025.
Demolition on Ride Station Underway
Following the closure of Hollywood Rip Ride Rockit, crews have primarily concentrated on dismantling the ride’s track and support pillars. However, crews are now actively working on demolishing the ride station as well. This photo, taken on the evening of September 21, 2025, shows the latest advancements in the station’s demolition.

Last Remaining Track Pieces
As of the date this post was published, only the central track section, which includes the vertical lift and non-inverted loop, remains standing.

Construction Progress on Replacement Ride
Situated between the Hard Rock Cafe in CityWalk and the entrance of Universal Studios Florida, work is progressing on the replacement for Hollywood Rip Ride Rockit. The following photos, also captured on the evening of September 21, 2025, show that concrete has been poured to create the foundations that will support the upcoming attraction, and rebar can be seen for the new ride’s support footers.

The site of the foundations is on previously unoccupied land; this area was not utilized by Hollywood Rip Ride Rockit, so the new ride will have a slightly larger footprint. Next to it, remnants of the track from the demolition of Hollywood Rip Ride Rockit can still be seen.

Here are more photos of the plot between the entrance of Universal Studios Florida and the Hard Rock Cafe. In addition to the concrete foundations being poured, drainage systems have recently been installed, which we’ve reported on before. You can also spot equipment labeled “Allied Precast,” a company that specializes in precast concrete for underground storm water and sewer utilities. The other excavated areas are likely for additional foundations, as suggested by the frames constructed around some of them. Moreover, with the removal of all the track pieces from Hollywood Rip Ride Rockit in the area next to the pink buildings, crews are also getting the land ready in that section.

Beside the waterway in CityWalk, a pile driver is on-site. It could be setting up a foundation, potentially for the new ride replacing Hollywood Rip Ride Rockit.

All images included in this update were taken on September 21, 2025, so there may have been slight changes to the site since then. As always, we will keep you informed about the ongoing demolition of Hollywood Rip Ride Rockit and the progress of its replacement ride.
