The Conjuring Universe is continuing with an upcoming prequel for The Conjuring. While The Conjuring: Last Rites brought the main film series to a close, Warner Bros. is moving forward with a new prequel set earlier in the timeline.
Warner Bros. has officially dated The Conjuring: First Communion for a September 10, 2027, theatrical release. The film will be directed by Rodrigue Huart and is based on a script by Richard Naing and Ian Goldberg. Warner Bros. reportedly had this September date in 2027 on hold previously.
At this time, plot details are unknown, and it is unclear if Patrick Wilson and Vera Farmiga will return in any capacity as Ed and Lorraine Warren.
The Conjuring film franchise began with the original movie in 2013, followed by The Conjuring 2 in 2016, The Conjuring: The Devil Made Me Do It in 2021, and The Conjuring: Last Rites in 2025. In addition to the main movies, the universe features multiple spin-offs, including Annabelle and The Nun.
Collectively, The Conjuring Universe stands as the highest-grossing horror franchise in history, having surpassed $2 billion worldwide and recently nearing the $3 billion mark across its main entries and spin-offs.
