A lot is happening right now at Walt Disney World, and Disney’s Hollywood Studios is right in the middle of it. From updates on the upcoming Walt Disney Studios courtyard to the reimagining of Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Starring Aerosmith into Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Starring The Muppets, and construction on the Monsters, Inc. land, there’s a lot to take in.

Monsters, Inc. Land Construction

Work is underway on the future Monsters, Inc.- themed land, Monstropolis, with visible changes taking place at the former Muppet*Vision 3D theater. Scaffolding surrounds the entry area and clock tower, while a portion of the exterior wall has been removed, with crews adding insulation.

Disney has not officially announced what will replace the theater, but concept art shows the space will become The Glob. Additionally, Disney previously confirmed that the land will include an all-new theater show, which is widely expected to take over this location.

Construction is also impacting the facade of the former PizzeRizzo and Gonzo’s Royal Flush restroom. Scaffolding surrounds the shared structure as work progresses on the exterior.

The Walt Disney Studios Courtyard Progress

Over in the Walt Disney Studios courtyard, previously known as Animation Courtyard, a familiar icon has returned as the Sorcerer Mickey Hat arrived on site last week, now serving as the entrance to the upcoming The Magic of Disney Animation attraction. A closer look reveals small dots across the surface of the hat, likely intended for lighting effects, while new striping is also being added to the exterior as work continues on the reimagined space.

The Walt Disney Studios courtyard draws inspiration from the actual Walt Disney Studios Lot in Burbank, California, with the exterior of The Magic of Disney Animation designed to resemble the Roy E. Disney Animation Building. The courtyard is set to open to guests on May 26, 2026, while The Magic of Disney Animation will follow later in the summer.

Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Starring The Muppets Update

Work continues on Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Starring The Muppets, with several visible updates taking shape around the attraction. The overhead car received an updated paint job, while the iconic guitar remains behind scrim as crews repaint it with a new design. Plus, the show building is also being refreshed, replacing its previous brownish color with a new gray paint scheme as the transformation moves forward.

Here’s a look at concept art of the updated exterior.
