A beloved piece of EPCOT history is returning.
Disney has announced plans to update Journey Into Imagination with Figment, bringing the original attraction’s iconic Dreamfinder character back alongside Figment.
The announcement came during the closing moments of the Disney Experiences showcase at D23, where Disney Experiences Chairman Thomas Mazloum confirmed that guests will once again be able to experience an adventure featuring the pair.
Dreamfinder Returns

Dreamfinder was a central character in the original version of Journey Into Imagination, which opened at EPCOT in 1983. Using his Dream Mobile, he brought Figment to life and guided guests alongside the purple dragon through imaginative scenes centered on art, literature, the performing arts, and science.
The character remained part of the attraction for 15 years, from 1983 until 1998, before being removed as the ride underwent changes.
Since then, Dreamfinder has remained one of the most requested characters to return to the attraction, with longtime EPCOT fans continuing to call for his comeback.
Disney’s announcement now confirms that those calls will become a reality as Imagineers work on a new version of the attraction.
Disney has not yet announced how extensive the attraction’s changes will be or provided a timeline for when it will close and reopen.
