Walt Disney World Updates Monorail Narration Across All Three Lines

Walt Disney World has introduced updated narration across its three monorail lines, bringing new audio to the Express, Resort, and EPCOT routes. The change follows the death of longtime monorail narrator Tom Kane, who had provided the system’s narration since 2012. Kane died in May 2026 after experiencing complications from a severe stroke he suffered in 2020, which ultimately ended his voice acting career.

The updated narration includes several changes to the monorail scripts, but the familiar voice of Jack Wagner remains for the iconic “Please stand clear of the doors” announcement in both English and Spanish.

One of the more noticeable changes is the updated no-smoking announcement, which now also mentions vaping: “For the comfort of others, no smoking or vaping, please. Thank you.” Disney has also removed the reference to the Seven Seas Lagoon being “Disney-created” and changed the wording used when the monorail approaches Magic Kingdom. The previous narration described the station as the “gateway to the six themed lands of the Magic Kingdom,” while the updated version simply says “gateway to the Magic Kingdom.”

For the EPCOT line, references to the canceled PLAY Pavilion have been removed, and a new segment featuring archival audio of Walt Disney describing his vision for EPCOT has been added. In the recording, Walt says, “The heart of everything we’ll be doing in Disney World will be our experimental prototype city of tomorrow. We call it EPCOT. Spelled E-P-C-O-T. Experimental Prototype Community of Tomorrow.”

Some guests speculated online that the new narration may have been created using generative artificial intelligence, based on how it sounds and flows. However, BlogMickey reported receiving confirmation that a voice actor recorded the new narration.

We captured a round-trip ride on the Express Monorail between the Transportation and Ticket Center and Magic Kingdom to document the updated narration and some of the changes. Unfortunately, the audio inside our monorail train was somewhat faint.
