Universal Studios Hollywood has shared a new look at its upcoming attraction, Fast & Furious: Hollywood Drift, which is set to open in 2026. This ride is the park’s first-ever, high-speed outdoor roller coaster and will become the fastest roller coaster at any Universal theme park, reaching a top speed of 72 MPH. For context, this new ride surpasses Jurassic World VelociCoaster, which hits a maximum speed of 70 MPH.

Fast & Furious: Hollywood Drift will cover 4,100 feet of track and incorporate 360-degree rotation for each ride vehicle. These fully rotational vehicles are designed to provide guests with the sensation of drifting cars, allowing them to spin in motion while racing down the track. The ride will weave over various sections of the park, including the multi-level escalator that connects the Upper and Lower Lots.

Guests will enter the ride through an expansive garage-like structure that serves as the queue area. They will then board one of four ride vehicles, designed to look like the cars from the Fast & Furious films. One of the ride vehicles is modeled after Dominic Toretto’s 1970 Dodge Charger and is currently on display during the Universal Mega Movie Summer event, which runs until August 10, 2025.

“Watching the progress of this incredible roller coaster come to life is truly spectacular,” said Scott Strobl, Executive Vice President & General Manager at Universal Studios Hollywood. “2026 is just around the corner and we are equally as excited as our guests to introduce such an inspiring new ride to our theme park portfolio. ‘Fast & Furious: Hollywood Drift’ will be a powerful game changer for Universal Studios Hollywood that will not only transform the topography of our destination but will infuse an entirely new level of adrenaline to our already dynamic theme park. We look forward to riding it ourselves and to welcoming guests to experience it in the very near future.”
