Fans of The Simpsons will have to wait a little longer for the next big-screen adventure. Disney’s 20th Century Studios announced that the upcoming feature-length film has been pushed back to Labor Day weekend, September 3, 2027. It was previously set to arrive on July 23, 2027.

The update was shared on social media with the caption, “An all-new movie from The Simpsons, now coming to theaters Labor D’OH Weekend, 2027!” alongside an image of Homer Simpson dropping a donut as a flagpole displaying the new release date pierces his foot.

The movie was first officially announced in late September 2025, marking the franchise’s return to the big screen 20 years after the 2007 film. No plot details have been revealed.

This will be the second theatrical film for The Simpsons, the animated series created by Matt Groening. The show remains one of the longest-running animated programs and sitcoms in television history.
