Bill Skarsgård is set to don the iconic clown makeup again, reprising his role as Pennywise from It and It Chapter Two for the upcoming Max Original series Welcome to Derry (working title). Alongside acting, Skarsgård will take on the role of executive producer for the series.

Announced back in February 2023, Welcome to Derry is based on Stephen King‘s 1986 horror novel It, which tells the tale of a group of children haunted by a malevolent entity that often appears as a sinister clown. The prequel series aims to build on the chilling atmosphere and narrative foundation established by filmmaker Andy Muschietti in his recent It film adaptations.

Andy Muschietti, who directed both It films, is one of the creative minds behind this TV project. He has developed the series alongside his sister Barbara Muschietti, who was also involved in the production of the movies, and Jason Fuchs, who contributed both as a producer and actor in It Chapter Two.

A release date for Welcome to Derry has not yet been announced, but the series is slated to be released in 2025.
