Top Things to Know Before Visiting Disneyland Resort

Purchase Tickets in Advance

Purchase your tickets online in advance to save time and money. You can buy tickets online directly from Disneyland Resort or from a trusted agency. If you choose to purchase from a third-party seller, be wary of possible scams. If a deal seems too good to be true, it probably is.

You Need a Theme Park Reservation to Enter

Valid park admission and a theme park reservation are required for each day you wish to visit a Disneyland Resort theme park, and all party members must meet both requirements. Even with valid admission, you are not guaranteed entry into a theme park without a reservation. Since reservations can become unavailable, we recommend purchasing your tickets and reserving your dates at least one month in advance. When buying tickets on the Disneyland website, you can check theme park reservation availability and make reservations immediately. If you purchase tickets from a third-party seller, check theme park reservation availability beforehand to ensure the parks you wish to visit are available. After buying tickets from the third-party seller, immediately make your reservations via the Disneyland website or app to secure entry. Early Entry is Available for Disney Hotel Guests

You Can Skip the Lines

Disneyland Resort offers Lightning Lane Multi Pass and Lightning Lane Single Pass for purchase to bypass the regular lines at participating attractions. These services allow you to reduce your wait times and experience more attractions throughout the day. To learn more about the two services, click here.

Some Attractions May Use a Virtual Queue

Attractions that use a virtual queue do not offer a standard standby line. To experience these attractions, you must join the virtual queue via the Disneyland app at designated times or when slots are available. The virtual queue system assigns a boarding group, and you are notified via the app when it’s your turn to experience the attraction. Alternatively, if offered, a Lightning Lane Single Pass can be purchased to bypass the virtual queue. Attractions that use a virtual queue are indicated in our touring plans for each theme park.

There’s an App

Disneyland Resort has a free app on the App Store and Google Play Store. With the app, you can view maps to easily navigate the parks, view attraction wait times and showtimes, browse restaurant menus, and more. It’s a great resource to use in the parks.

There’s a Parking Fee

If you plan to park a vehicle at Disneyland Resort, a parking fee is required. For the theme parks, the parking fee varies based on the type of vehicle and the parking option you choose; select Magic Key passes include free parking (blockout dates apply). For Downtown Disney District, the parking fee depends on the duration of your visit. Disneyland Resort’s on-site hotels also charge a parking fee that varies based on the duration of your stay. Mobile Order When You Can

You can mobile order food and beverages at various dining locations using the Disneyland app. It’s a convenient, easy-to-use feature that can help you avoid the long lines of guests ordering food.

There’s a Rider Switch Service

Disney offers a free rider switch service to accommodate guests traveling with children. If a guest chooses not to ride an attraction or does not meet an attraction’s boarding requirements, all other members of the party can still experience the attraction with no hassle.
